Biography

Rev. Andy Shelton is the Interim Director of Field Education and Supervised Ministry, a position he also held for the 2018–2019 academic year. A Theological Reflection Group leader since 2011, he also served as Director of Chapel from 2015 to 2020.

Rev. Shelton is the pastor of Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Richardson, Texas. His prior ministry experiences have included pastoral work in Oklahoma, judicatory leadership in North Texas, and outreach ministry with Latinx immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He received a bachelor of arts in journalism with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master of divinity in pastoral counseling and pastoral theology from Brite Divinity School in 2003. After graduating from Brite he taught high school English in Saltillo, Mexico. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, his ministry has included travel to Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Brazil. He is currently pursuing a doctor of ministry degree from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
