New students are invited to our “Seeking and Practicing Theologically Informed Justice Retreat” on Saturday, August 17th, 9a-5p at Arborlawn Methodist Church (5001 Briarhaven Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76109). This retreat is designed to empower you on your theological journey at Brite by engaging in conversations on justice, vocational callings, and intersectionality. The day will be filled with great food (breakfast, lunch, and nibbles w/ vegetarian options), enriching dialogue, and wellness practices (yoga and wellness through planting). Below is an agenda for the day and a short text to help frame the day. Although the agenda exists, you are welcome to curate your own experience, as you will see plenty of time for contemplation, labyrinth walks, intentional rest, enjoying the beautiful campus, and meditation.

Students with last names A-L are asked to participate in the morning Socratic Seminar, and M-Z are asked to participate in the afternoon Socratic Seminar. When you are not participating in the seminar, you are invited to listen closely to your colleague’s conversation and notate things that are meaningful, confusing, or challenging for you. So that have the theological and intersectional framing for the day, please see two texts(by Stone + Duke and Shaw + Kim) linked below. They will be great resources for you as you prepare for the retreat.
