FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Today, Brite Divinity School invites the community to register for Ministry Week 2027, an annual three-day conference that educates and inspires faith communities and more to meet the pressing needs of the 21st century church, February 1-3 at University Christian Church (UCC) in Fort Worth. This year's convening is a response to the on-the-ground experiences faith leaders and community members are feeling and seeing in today’s church, addressing topics like resisting white Christian nationalism, responsible AI in ministry, preaching through a queer lens, how to transform conflict into connection, and more.
"The gospel promises that what is, is not what has to be. And while sometimes the world can change for the worse, by God’s grace and through hard work, we believe that it can also change for the better. At Brite, we want to be a part of that positive change — a world transformed by God’s love, mercy, and justice," said Rev. Dr. Stephen Cady, President of Brite Divinity School.
"This year's Ministry Week is all about meeting the moment we're in and responding faithfully. And everyone has a part in that response—those in the pulpit, those in the pews, and those in the streets. In other words, it will take all of us. Ministry Week is for anyone who is ready to make the world as it could be. If you feel called to tell your story and put your faith into action, Ministry Week is where you want to be."
Through dynamic lectures, interactive workshops, and inspiring worship experiences, Ministry Week 2027 will equip people of the church and the community to become more faithful storytellers, more creative worship leaders, and more courageous witnesses of God’s transformative power. Drawing on the church’s tradition of storytelling, this year’s conference – "And Yet, This Is Our Story: Prophetic Witness in This Present Age" – will inspire attendees to view their stories and the stories of the church as an act of prophetic witness, calling all to explore how our narratives help shape identities, challenge injustice, sustain hope, and mobilize communities for change.
Ministry Week 2027 was created in partnership with the inaugural Gongloff Creative Worship and Prophetic Preaching Fellows, a fellowship funded by a charitable donation from Nancy Gongloff, in memory of her spouse the Rev. Paul Gongloff. The fellowship honors Rev. Gongloff’s innovative approach to ministry that addressed social justice concerns through community activism, prophetic preaching, and creative worship.
Further details on Ministry Week 2027, including the program, featured speakers, and guest preachers will be announced in the coming months. Stay tuned for more details at brite.edu/MW2027.
