A Home for New Possibility

Harvest House began with six beds for men recovering from substance use. Founded by Pastors Jim and Peggy Minor, the ministry responded to a concrete need: people needed somewhere to begin again. That beginning grew into a broader community response to homelessness, addiction, and housing insecurity. Harvest House’s work now includes supportive and affordable housing, mental health services, and support for people rebuilding their lives.

Harvest Church, an inclusive congregation led by Pastor Dan Minor, serves as the anchor for the nonprofit Harvest House. The church and nonprofit work in partnership, connecting the congregation’s faith and commitment to belonging with practical care for the wider community. Dan, whose service to Harvest House spans more than two decades, was named President and CEO in 2025. His leadership across both organizations offers a compelling example of ministry taking shape through sustained attention to people’s lives.

For churches asking what comes next, this story invites a different starting question: What are our neighbors facing, and what might become possible if we respond?

A Place to Begin Again

A safe place to sleep. Space for a child to play. A place to belong.

Harvest House began with six beds for men in recovery. That small beginning grew into a broader response to homelessness, housing insecurity, and the support people need to rebuild their lives.

For faith communities imagining their next chapter, this story raises a powerful question: What could grow from responding to the needs right outside our doors?

Your community’s next chapter may begin with a need someone has already named, a resource you already hold, or a possibility you have yet to imagine.

At Brite Divinity School, the Department of Ecclesial Innovation invites faith communities to explore questions like these, bringing theological reflection into conversation with courageous imagination and practical action.
