Gouwens was recently surprised to learn that a book in appreciation of his teaching, scholarship, and service to church and world will be available in the fall. To be published by Wipf and Stock Publishers, The Theologically Formed Heart is edited by Warner M. Bailey, Presbyterian minister, scholar, and Director of Presbyterian Studies at Brite, Lee C. Barrett, Henry and Mary Stager Professor of Theology at Lancaster Theological Seminary, and James O. Duke, Brite’s I. Wylie and Elizabeth M. Brisco Professor of History of Christianity and History of Christian Thought, with an introduction by Brite president D. Newell Williams. Essays by ministers and scholars are organized in three sections, corresponding to aspects of Professor Gouwens’ professional life: Theological Reflections, Reformed Theology in Service to the Church, and Studies in Søren Kierkegaard.
