The Director of Academic Support Services primarily administers the policies related to the school’s “first” Master degree programs (the Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Christian Service), the Certificate of Theological Studies program, and other forms of certification offered at Brite. The Director of Academic Support Services also oversees financial aid, academic advising, academic scheduling, ensures that student registration takes place in a timely manner and students’ permanent records are up-to-date, and advises the Dean on issues and concerns with both students and curriculum as they emerge. In addition, the Director of Academic Support Services amasses and analyses academic data and oversees the completion of reports for internal and external purposes, especially in compliance with state and federal laws. This role serves on a number of committees and serves as an administrative liaison to others.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
Creates the course schedule, academic calendar, and catalogue.
Facilitates effective student enrollment and registration, and ensures that adequately qualified instructors are available when needed.
Creates resources for academic advisement and assists advisors with monitoring student progress.
Collaborates with the Dean to provide policy and procedural guidance to the Office of Academic Affairs and implement routing academic policies and procedures.
Facilitates requests for academic transcripts.
Assists the Dean in the evaluation of transfer credit requests.
Produces the internal annual enrollment report and completes external surveys and reports that have to do with the academic life of the institution.
Develops and sustains relationships with correlating departments and personnel at TCU (e.g., Financial Services, Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Aid, Religion department, TCU/Brite collaborated degree programs).
Supports the Dean in maintaining relationships between Brite Divinity School and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Includes the address of accreditation concerns pertinent to all academic programs and serving on the leadership team for self-studies and quality enhancement plans.
Collaborates with the Dean in administering the Divinity School’s program of institutional effectiveness.
Collaborates with the Dean in assessing and improving the quality of teaching, learning, and educational programs.
Receives formal appeals that address academic issues in all academic programs.
Provides orientation to new faculty.
Makes classroom assignments.
Resources the annual review of merit award recipients and generates Dean’s lists.
Monitors Student Academic Standing and reports to the Dean students on academic probation.
Ensures that degree audits are run for potential graduates.
Facilitates the procurement of diplomas and academic regalia, including sort for distribution and return.
Assist in the set up of hoods and diplomas prior to hooding ceremony and in the hooding of graduates.
Supports DMin and Advanced Programs directors on program administration.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Experience as a Divinity School or College Registrar or equivalent experience in an educational institution – the provision of support for the Doctoral program will be an advantage.
