Brite Chapel — Earth Day Celebration

April 19, 2010

Dear Friends,

One of the treasures of our faith and hymnody is William Draper’s translation of the great hymn by St. Francis of Assisi, “All Creatures of Our God and King” which offers as its final stanza:

“Let all things their Creator bless,
and worship God in humbleness.
O praise God! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Maker, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, Three in One!
O praise God! O praise God!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!”

Tomorrow, we bring our Spring series of Brite Chapel services to a close in a most fitting way as we come together and give praise and blessing and honor to our Creator, singing the joys of God’s good creation and rejoicing in our shared responsibility for its care. This week marks our annual Earth Week observance at Brite, and our own Megan Ammann (M.Div. senior at Brite) will deliver the message “Taking Off Your Shoes” at our service tomorrow as Brite Green leads us in worship of God and celebration and recognition of ecological stewardship as part of our faith and Christian witness. Please come and join us in Robert Carr Chapel at 11:00 a.m. as we celebrate God’s good creation — all are invited.

Soli Deo Gloria,
